"For the emperor and homeland 1914-1918" is the name of the recently opened exhibition at the Historical Museum of Istria - Museo Storico dell'Istria which presents the other side of war. With this first exhibition the Historical Museum presents to the public some five hundred items from its holdings - Collections of urban life, Collections of weapons and military equipment and Collections of postcards.
The items are divided into several groups: ribbons, medals and plaques, cap emblems, pins and pendants, utilitarian and ornamental objects, postcards as well as objects related to different anniversaries such as glasses, cups, coins, postcards from the period of the First World War. Those items were made by various organizations founded by the state with the idea of mobilizing people and rousing solidarity. So, these manufactured items were sold and the money was sent to the needy.
This very interesting exhibition remains open until the end of September. The Historical Museum of Istria is situated at Gradski uspon 6, and the tickets can be ordered by phone 211-566. The entrance fee is 10 kunas.
